Step Card

Hello!

The current challenge on Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog is to make a step card. I have not made one for a long time and so this was what I made today for my weekly card for my friend Verda. The main image is Cheryl's digital 'Sassy Sally and Her Lady Bug' and I used parts of other of Cheryl's images for the little dog and the flowers. Go to http://sassycherylschallenge.blogspot.com/ to add your creation and win a prize!

Wynken, Blynken and Nod

Hello!

Sweet little babes - a Mo Manning digital image. I am sending this to my grandson Travis to say hello to his first child and my 4th great grandchild - Grange Juel Klint. The Juel is for my father who came to America as a young child from Denmark. His name was Niels Juel Nielsen but he always went by Juel. Another of my great grandchildren also has Juel as a middle name. Grandpa Juel is no longer here so these children won't get to know him, but their parents remember. A wonderful honor to their grandfather.

I am entering this card in Mo's current challenge at http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ I used 'Star Dust' Stickles to add sparkle to the net, the stars and moon. Love this image!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! It is rain, rain and more rain in this part of WI - thunderstorms and rain forecast for the entire week. Wishing you some sunshine where you are!

A Very Patient Doll Stands & Sees The Sunshine

Hello!

My poor little doll-in-progress has been sitting since March of 2011! On 3-22/23-2011 I posted these photos and wrote of finding a mess of the project I was working on.

"On closer inspection - guess who the culprit was! "I am determined!" she said, with her poor little half finished arm holding tight to the paper strips. "I want you to stop the paper craft projects and finish me!" "Just let me finish this stationary box set and I promise I will start sewing again and make you my priority." I said and she agreed.

Obviously, I did not keep my promise! Over time, the doll and basket were moved to a bookcase shelf and forgotten  - only to be remembered when the shelves were dusted. So much has happened over the past two years that dollmaking was put aside and although I would feel sad when I would be reminded of the poor, unfinished little doll - I just could not begin again to complete her. Yesterday I began - and is she happy! Here she is.

At first she was unsure and wobbly . . . . .

but then she had a face - with eyes to see and a mouth to smile.

And she looked at the sunshine and said, "This is good! Now can I please have some clothes?"

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Wishing you all a happy, sunshine day!

WOYW? - My Mother's Day Orchid

Hello!
Today is Wednesday - and time to share "What's On Your Workdesk?" on Julia's blog Stamping Ground. I have only my Mother's Day orchid on my workdesk today - a gift from my son Jim. I have never had an orchid plant before so I hope that it does well. So far the many blooms are opening without a problem so as long as I have it where it gets sunlight and only give it a half cup water or 3 ice cubes once a week as it says, it should do fine.  The colors are gorgeous and I keep it on the corner of my workdesk so that I can enjoy it every day!

To enjoy all of the fun entries on this week's WOYW, go to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and be sure to share what you are working on this week - as you meet others from all over the world!

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! Wishing you a happy day!

Red, White & Blue at Mo Manning Challenge

Hello!

This is great! For once I am on time for a challenge - even ahead! :<)

I had just finished this card for my friend Mary - to add to the collection I have been creating for her of the "Wizard of Oz" characters dressed up in different holiday settings. I have used Mo Manning's wonderful digital images of her 'Oz' characters and this card is featuring her "Witch of the West" as she would be dressed for the 4th of July! Mo's new challenge theme - which starts today - is 'Red, White & Blue' and my card has already been created!

So far the cards I have created for Mary's collection are the 'Tin Man' on Valentine's Day, the 'Scarecrow' on St. Patrick's Day, 'Dorothy' on Easter and 'The Cowardly Lion' on Halloween. Now, with the 'Witch of the West' on the 4th of July, it leaves only 'Glinda the Good Witch' - can you guess which holiday she will dress up for? This has been such fun to create all of these cards using Mo's awesome images and I will post all of them together when I finish the last card.

Go to http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ to see all  of the wonderful entries and inspiration and enter your own creation!.

Wishing you a happy and creative day today!

Seen But Not Believed!

Hello!

This was the sight that greeted me when I went out to start my car yesterday morning.

We have a small orchard area adjoining the parking lot and when I glanced over to admire the beautiful blooming trees I couldn't believe what I saw! One of the large flowering tees was laying sideways on the ground! There had been no heavy winds or thunderstorms so my first thought was that it was vandalism. I forgot going anywhere and immediately walked out to look at it more closely and saw that the inside of the trunk was all dry rot where it had split and the weight of the tree had taken it down. It was amazing that it had continued to bloom so completely and beautifully with no outside sign of any decay. So sad for words - so sad. The entire tree was in bloom and the flowers were so perfect and beautiful.

We are to have a 'heat wave' today here in this part of WI today - it is to get up to 84 degrees! This weather is so strange now - we go from 40 degrees to 84 - makes no sense. Wishing you a happy day where you are.

Happy Mother's Day! - "Girls Rule" a Perfect Theme

Hello!

Happy Mother's Day! We have a beautiful sunny day here in this part of WI - a bit chilly, but the sunshine is wonderful! The current theme on Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog is "Girls Rule" and that is perfect for the day! I am entering this card in the challenge - but truthfully, it was for the last challenge of "April Showers" that I created this card, but I got behind again and missed it! So I guess it is still 'legit' and fits the current theme. :<) The digital image is "Charlie's Green Umbrella" and I have paper pieced the image and cut out the flowers. I am also entering the first photo in Cheryl's 'Show Me Thursday' blog at http://sassycheryls.blogspot.com/. Check it out and share your photo of what you are creating! For the challenge, http://sassycherylschallenge.blogspot.com/ is where all the great inspiration is.

Wishing you a happy Sunday! The flowering trees are so beautiful with the sunshine! Many are starting to prepare their gardens for planting, the tulips and daffodils are blooming and I am so happy that winter is over!

NOT Fair!

Hello!

With all of the confusion of the past weeks I realized that I still had my Easter card on my apartment door so I needed to make a new door decoration. I love these little crying babies of Mo Manning's and wanted to make a story poster using them. Here is this little guy - who not only has chocolate milk in his bottle - but he is also taking all of the toys! So unfair! As you can see, the others are NOT happy!

The first little one is "Steffi Sobbing", the second is "Bawling Benny", the third is "Fussy Frankie" and the last "Howie Howling" is definitely letting those in charge just how unhappy he is! You can find all of the babies at http://www.digitalpenciltoo.blogspot.com/ I have entered this poster/card in Mo's current challenge where the theme is 'Clean & Simple' at http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/.

We have had beautiful weather here in this part of WI - sunny and in the 70's - but now the thunderstorms and rain have arrived for a few days. Everything is so green and all of the flowering trees are in bloom. So lovely! This is my favorite time of year with all of the trees budding out and they all look so lacey. Wishing you a sunny day today!

The 4th in the Wizard of Oz Holidays Series

Hello!

It has been a long time since I posted a new creation. My son Jim has been with me since his lung surgery on April 8th and he now has returned home to the Adult Family Home where he lives. The past many months have been very difficult and now I pray for him to continue his recovery with his new family - a young couple and their 5 month old daughter who Jim calls his 'little sister'. My heartfelt Thank You! again to all of you who sent him your wonderful cards. They brought him many smiles!

I have been creating a series for my friend Mary of Mo Manning's "Wizard of Oz" digital images - placing each of the characters in a holiday background. First was the 'Tin Man' on Valentine's Day, second was the "Scarecrow" on St. Patrick's Day, third was "Dorothy" on Easter and now the 'Cowardly Lion' on Halloween. The remaining two images - the 'Wicked Witch of the West' and the 'Good Witch of the East' will be completed soon. I am entering this card in Mo's challenge of 'Anything Goes' - my first challenge in many weeks. Go to http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ to see all of the great entries.

I gave Mary this card today and she was very happy with this 4th character and added the card to her collection that she keeps on display in her office. They make a colorful collection on top of her file cabinet and bring me happiness to see them there.

It has been unbelievable weather here in this part of WI for the past few days - reaching 80 degrees on one day. It is now to return  to the 40's again with rain - a big difference. This is WI and that's the way we do it here! :<) Wishing you some sunshine today!
