Meeting an Idol, Halloween Card Using DP and a Vampire Owl

The Little Vampire Owl's individual photo was somehow forgotten in today's post and added on the October 21 post!

Yesterday was an very exciting day for me as I had a one chance of a lifetime to meet an idol. I will be posting of the exhilerating experience this weekend as I have many photos to share and tales to tell - but here is a hint. :<) You dollmakers out there will know who this is!

Today's card is made using a DP as not only the background but also cutting individual images from it and popping them up using dimensionals. No stamping, but lots of cutting - and I love the bright and fun results! :<)

A scary Vampire Owl has appeared in the Owl Forest today - he's so happy to join his friends!

A Halloween Card and a Cowboy Owl Has Joined His Friends In The Owl Forest

Hello!

I love neutrals with a contrast of black and a bit of white. Combined with this layout, it creates a clean and simple design and makes a great card! The stamp is by Craft Smart.

Today's trick 'n treater is a little cowboy owl! He's so excited to be here and ready to knock on the door of the Wise Owl Twins to see what their giving for treats this year!

Seven friends have arrived so far and many more will join them before Owloween Night arrives!

Halloween Wall Hanging Tutorial and A Little Bee Owl Arrives In Owl Forest

Hello!

Today I have the tutorial for the Halloween wall hanging. It's a bit time consuming and it has one step that can make you crazy :<) but it is fun to make, and the finished project is wonderful!

Start with three pieces of CS cut at 3" x 12" and scored every 1/2". Do not fold on the score lines yet at this point. Stamp an image along the edge of each piece. The stamp I used is one from a set by SU called "The More The Merrier."

I made two versions - one just stamped in black . . . .

and one colored in with markers.

Fold on the score lines in an accordian fold - starting with the end piece stamped side facing you.

Then glue the three pieces together - end to end to form a circle. Use a strong adhesive. I use the two-sided paper tape.

This is the part that gets a bit tricky - but you can do it! :<) Lay this piece down on a flat surface with the stamped side up and flatten into a circle.

Press together towards the center until a very small hole is in the center of the circle. Apply hot glue around this center and hold until the glue has hardened and the circle stays together.

To finish the wall hanging I glued onto this center a circle that had been stamped with the same image as on the edges. Attach a ribbon hanger and you are good to go! I used one bow on the first one and two on this one.

And now we have the latest addition to the Owl Forest - a little bee owl has joined her friends, ready to trick 'n treat with her little pumpking bag!

This is the poster now. I apologize for the poor quality photo but the lighting in the hallway is terrible for taking photos!

I added a small sign to the card above the poster - "Hear No Evil - See No Evil - Speak No Evil"

And also this one over the poster.

So here they all are so far - the ghost, the mummy, the hula owl, the pumpkin owl, the Dracula owl and now the bee owl.

I made 8 more over the weekend and they all just keep getting more detailed - I am having so much fun! But if I am to add one each week day until Halloween, I think I need to add to my poster! :<)

A Halloween Door Hanging and A Dracula Owl Comes Trick 'N Treating

Hello!

A Halloween Scene and a Pumpkin Owl Arrives

Hello!

I had so much fun using these three stamps and a bat punch to make the Halloween scene cards! I love the purple and yellow combination - the Haloween colors are so great - and the white dots on black are becoming my favorite finish! I used dimensionals on the mummy to make him stand out even more than his being white. In real life these cards just pop out at you! :<)

And our little owl to arrive today in the Owl Forest is a pumpkin! So cute peering over the edge! I am having a great time making up these costumes each night! :<)

Here is the updated poster with both the Hula Owl and the Pumpkin Owl added. People are now checking my door each morning!

Scary Halloween Cat Card and a Hula Girl Owl

Hello!

Today's card has another Penny Black image - this cat means to be scary on Halloween! I love this background paper for the great Halloween colors and wanted to match them in the image. I have been using the white dots on black quite often this season as it makes the card pop and I love the finish it gives.

The little Hula Girl Owl was added to my door of trick or treaters in the Owl Forest.

I accidently erased the photos that I took of her on the door 'poster' after she had been attached - but will have a photo of this one, and the next one, together on the poster after I post the photos of the next owl tomorrow. (If that makes any sense.) Too many things on my plate again and I thought I had transferred the photos to my computer and alas, I had not done that and so deleted them to take new photos.

But here is the little Hula Girl Owl in all her glory. :<)

Halloween Card and More Little Owls

Hello!

I hope you all had a nice weekend! We are having some beautiful Fall weather here in this part of WI. It gets really chilly at night - it has been in the 30's already - but the days are warmer and the sun is shining and the leaf colors are gorgeous this year!

The image I used on today's card is from Just INK Lined - I love their digital imagesand they have some awesome ones! You can visit their site at http://www.justinklined.com/ and see all of the fun creations they have there!

Also, the first of the owls has arrived in the Owl-O-Ween Forest at the home of the wise Twin Owls to trick n' treat them. This little ghost is waiting for her friends - who will appear one by one as we head towards Owl-O-Ween Night. You can't see it clearly in the photo, but the ghost costume is all sparkly! (As I add one to the door decoration each night, two more have joined the little ghost during the weekend and I will post them in order.)

The photos of the door will be of poor quality as the light in the hallway is too dim even in the daylight hours - but I wanted to share with you how it looks as the owls start to gather.

Because the ghost is the first to arrive, the place closest to the door of the home of the Twin Owls is this owl's choice. You can see that I have also added the name sign above the door.

My "Happy Owl-O-Ween" Door Begins

Hello!

Each year on October 1st I start a Halloween decoration on the door to my apartment and add characters to it until Halloween Eve. It is great fun as people start to come by each day to see what's new and I can hear them discussing it outside of my door and some people even take photos! It brings many laughs and good memories. Love it!

This year it is a "Owl-O-Ween Forest" and I will be adding something each day - hopefully lots of little owls in costume as they go 'trick or treating' to the home of the wise old Owl Twins that sits in the center of the forest. Please excuse the poor quality of the photos as I finished it late last night and the Ott lights in my studio are are a bit too bright for photos but I wanted to get it up on my door before morning.
