The Dollhouse Studio - Miniatures In The Bay Window & On The Shelf Under The Skylight

Hello!

There are many miniatures that sit in the bay window and on the shelf under the skylight. Some of them are gifts brought back to me by friends from vacations and visits and others I collected.

Sitting in the bay window are my three miniature Hummel collectibles - one is signed, a baby photo stand with copper baby shoes, a very tiny little girl and her teddy bear, an even smaller lamb and pots of hand sculpted polymer flowers.

On the shelf under the skylight are a small doll, a paper bird ornament, a candy covered Christmas tree, my wonderful chess set in a velvet box that is custom designed to hold them, a china canister set, another tiny doll, a seashell, a metal Buddah and an old style table radio.

Isn't this scale amazing? Each piece is individually carved!

With everything returned to the bay window and the shelf under the skylight it is starting to look like someone lives in the dollhouse studio - next is the table and chairs area.

The Dollhouse Studio - The Folding Twin Bed

One of the more unique miniatures I have in the dollhouse studio - and one of my favorites next to the chess set (coming up) - is the folding twin bed. I was going to make a mattress for it but it was somehow forgotten. I have now purchased the ticking to make one, so when I finish it - along with the sink curtain - I will post photos.

The folding bed frame is metal, hinged for folding, is on wheels and has a hook at the top that holds it together when it is folded up for storing.

Isn't this so cool! So detailed and realistic - I absolutely love it! :<)

Returned to the dollhouse studio, that makes five returns - only a few left.

The table area is next, then the couch area, then the children who live in this studio and some miscellaneous items - and then all will be returned and in order and I need to start to do the research for the cost list yet before I advertise it to sell.

The Dollhouse Studio - The Kitchen Sink

This great free standing kitchen sink was made in Germany and is a favorite. It has two little faucets and as the sink has only the two legs, it needs to be attached to the wall. I was going to make a gathered "sink skirt" to go around it - to hide what is stored under it - but somehow that was forgotten and I think I will still make one now out of a tiny printed cotton.

As the dollhouse studio has only one main room, all of the areas need to be very organized and self contained - as is this kitchen sink and laundry items.

To start, a small wooden stool, a scale, a woven basket - sitting on a rug knit for me by a friend.

The box of Tide laundry soap, a clothes line and clothes pins - which can be removed individually and used to hang a cloth on the line. Here you see the front of the box of soap . . .

and here is the back with the instructions. I have moved one of the clothes pins off to the side so you can see that they are individual and are slid over the paper.

I love the dish drainer! Love it! It is metal and has the little individual cup racks off to each side - and inside are the raised ridges where the plates can be lined up. The copper pot is hand crafted, the little soap dish has two bars of soap and I have added an orange juicer and six oranges.

Put them all together and add the broom - which I forgot - and there you have it!

Into the dollhouse studio it goes and another piece is in place! :<)

The Dollhouse Studio - The Butcher Block Table

Who would think that one small butcher block table could hold so many things! Well, when space is limited - one gets very organized and specific in what one chooses to have in that space. When I had to sell my large 3-story Victorian and lost it and the 20+ years collection inside it, I wanted to have as many of my favorite things in my dollhouse studio that I could.

So here is the butcher block table and all of the miniatures that sit on it!

A set of hand thrown pottery bowls like my mother had, a Betty Crocker cookbook, a blue glass bowl with tiny green apples, a bunch of bananas, a pear, a peach, a bunch of purple grapes . . . .

a box of oatmeal, a roll of real paper towels and a set of hand crocheted potholders with hanging loops - another gift from a friend.

Then there are the kitchen utencils - again, some of my favorite things because of the realism in detail. A potato peeler, two wooden mixing spoons, a spatula, a wonderful hand crafted sieve and a rolling pin. Everything one needs in the kitchen.

And they all fit in this little pottery jar.

Isn't this amazing in it's detail! That is wood and metal.

The real paper towels can be pulled off the roll in sheets. Look how small the roll is!

A tiny towel to wipe one's hands.

And of course, without room for a stove, I had to have a microwave to cook the food! :<)

So here they are, all the miniatures returned to where they belong on the butcher's block table. One has to be very organized!

And here the butcher block table is returned to the kitchen area of the dollhouse studio. Three in place now. On Monday I have photos of the sink - yes there are even things in the kitchen sink!

The Dollhouse Studio - The Corner Hutch

The corner hutch with 'glass' windows in the upper doors sits across from the refrigerator in the dollhouse studio - on the opposite end of the bay window.

I somehow forgot to take a photo of the empty hutch with all of the miniatures in front of it so will have to start with the end photo of a filled hutch! Oh well. It is a beautiful piece and holds many of my small collectibles.

This gold horse was made for me by the person who built the dollhouse studio for me and it was sitting on the inside wall shelf when the dollhouse was delivered to my shop. I don't quite remember what it was to represent - I think some kind of an award, but my memory fails me. A beautiful little horse, it is special to me because he made it. :<)

In and on the hutch are many things. We start with a tiny cup of sculpted rosebuds, another little Easter basket with rabbit and colored eggs and a funny little sculpted pig in a teacup. Love his rosey cheeks and suprised expression!

A very tiny duck sits on a bed of grass with eggs, a chocolate rabbit, a Kewpie doll and a little Christmas gingerbread house with a peppermint candy roof. (By now I guess you know that Christmas, followed by Easter, are my favorite holidays to collect.) :<)

A set of bluebird china - two plates, two glasses. So pretty!

A copper pitcher brought back for me by a friend from a vacation in Mexico.

Next there is a small boy, a Christmas tree decorated with little Santa heads and bows, 3 teeny candy canes, a collector plate from Christmas 1995 in a plate holder given to me on a special Christmas and two very small Santa candles - which are real candles and have wicks. I love realism in detail!

This gives you an idea of the small scale - amazing isn't it? If you look at the photo of the pieces side by side you can see that the little boy is about the size of the candy canes and the candles are not much taller and only slightly larger around.

So - here is the corner hutch with everything back inside and on top, ready to be returned to the corner of the dollhouse studio.

Two pieces returned and many yet to go! Tomorrow the kitchen area butcher block table with all of the miniatures that I have managed to fit on it!
