Mo Manning Challenge - Favorite Card for 2013

Hello!

The theme of the current Mo Manning challenge is "Favorite Mo Card Made By YOU in 2013" and I do have to say it was this card - one of my Christmas cards this year. I loved everything about it. So here it is again. To see all of the great entries in the challenge go to http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ So many beautiful cards in addition to the wonderful designer team's cards! They will give you inspiration to create something new today! This is a 2 week challenge so you still have time to enter your favorite card!

We have sunshine and warmer temperatures today in this part of WI - it is lovely at 30 degrees already at 9:30 am and it is to get to 39 degrees today! BUT - a huge drop in temperatures with an arctic blast is on the way with -12 degrees and gusting winds. Typical WI weather but not good. In the meantime I think I will just enjoy this nice day. Wishing you some sunshine where you are.

Barbara Diane

It is very cold here in this part of WI - we were -4 degrees this morning. It is to get to 14 degrees today with some sunshine - a heat wave! :<) We had 5.7 inches of snow a couple of days ago - snow flurries since then with some snow again last night and more forecast for tomorrow. I hope not too much so the streets are clear and roads are safe as my son Jim is coming tomorrow to share Christmas Day. This will be my first Christmas Eve alone - think I will cook something for tomorrow, eat some caramel corn and enjoy my little Christmas tree. :<)

For those of you who celebrate Christmas - I wish you a happy Christmas Eve and a happy holiday season to everyone.
Hugs,

Barbara Diane

A Couple More Christmas Cards

Hello!

A couple more Christmas cards. It's hard to believe that Christmas is less than a week away now. The fun snowman is one of Sassy Cheryl's digital images and he is called 'Star Handler' and the sweet little guy is called 'Miles In Winter' and he is one of Mo Manning's digital images. You can visit Mo at http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/ and Cheryl at  http://www.sassycherylsstamps.com/

We have a very bad ice storm here in this part of WI - school closings, etc. It was to stop by this morning but now it is supposed to continue on into this afternoon and then a big snowstorm coming in this weekend. I can handle cold and snow but this ice thing scares me. I was to meet my son at 9:00 this morning at an appointment and that has been cancelled and I had a doctor's appointment at noon which I just rescheduled for Monday. With a cane and balance problem and having old and brittle bones I do not want to risk it and a cab is not necessarily safe either - plus it is expensive. :<) So it is to be a quiet day at home I hope, working on last minute cards and maybe cooking with my new slow cooker that I received as an early Christmas present.  Later I will go out to clean off my car when it is safe to walk outdoors! Wishing you a safe and happy day!

Taste of Winter Cutie

Hello!

This little cutie is another of Mo Manning's digital images called 'Taste of Winter' and you can find it and others on her website at http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/ I do not have the lighting right yet with my new camera so the photo is a bit washed out. I was not able to take photos of many of the cards I made this season as I had no camera for a few days plus learning to edit  my new camera photos in the new program - and I had to get the cards in the mail - so I am going to post all of the photos I did get even if not perfect.

More snow today and tomorrow here in this part of WI - freezing rain it sounds like - and then a big storm moving in on Saturday. I best take my trash out now before it gets too slippery. I have appointments tomorrow so hope that the roads are ok. Wishing you a happy day!

Barbara Diane

Another Christmas Card

Hello,

Another Christmas card. I am still practicing with my new camera and lighting so not perfect but good enough to show the colors. This is a digital image from Sassy Cheryl's called 'Winkie's Snowday Wishes' and you can find it at http://www.sassycherylsstamps.com/. I have been using my Copic markers - which is something new for me also. I have been collecting them for some time now - the colors are very bright and can be shaded easily but I have a lot to learn there also. The old brain in on overload with all this new stuff!

We had lots of snow here in this part of WI - out cleaning the car, moving it out of the parking lot and then out to clean again and move back. Same old - same old. I am feeling my age this winter but I don't want to think of not having a car. It is to be warmer the next few days - in the low 30's - so with that and sunshine it will be nice! Wishing you a happy day!

A Christmas Card

Hello!

I have a new computer and a new camera - very stressful learning new ways to do things! Especially the camera - couldn't do anything! I do have a photo of one of my Christmas cards that I am making this year that was on my old camera. This is one of Mo Manning's images called Winter Window and you can get it for your own cards at http://www.digitalpenciltoo.blogspot.com/. I hope to have new camera photos tomorrow of more of my cards.

It is very cold here in this part of WI but forecast is for warmer weather. It is now 16 degrees and 2-4 inches of snow today. More cleaning off and moving the car - SIGH. I received a crock pot as an early Christmas gift so I am going to try it out today and use it to make a pot of chili. Perfect food for this cold weather with a grilled cheese sandwich perhaps. :<) Wishing you a happy day.

Hugs,

Barbara Diane

Wednesday is WOYW? Time

Hello!

Today being Wednesday - it is time for "What's On Your Workdesk? and I am working on Christmas cards. I am so behind this year but want to get as many made as I can. Hopefully I can do better on my Valentines! Go to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and check out what Julia is up to and all of the many bloggers all over the world. You can meet so many great people by sharing your workdesk!

Early morning photo and it is COLD here in this part of WI - we are to get to a -3 degrees tonight which means a -15 degree windchill. Cleaning the snow from my car this morning was cold, cold, cold! Today it is to get all the way up to 7 degrees! My Christmas cactus and the flowering poinsettias and the amaryllis are all red in color and against the background of white snow outside it was so pretty - even in the dim light of early morning.

I have been out and about getting gas in my car, some groceries, etc. and now I best get started on those Christmas cards! Wishing you a happy day today!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane

A Christmas Card

Hello!

Finally - a Christmas card. The sweet snowman and the cute little guy are Mo Manning digital images "Snowman" and "Miles In Winter". I am so behind that I no longer can worry about it this year. I will just do what I can. Life - sometimes it just takes you down with it's issues until you no longer know where it is going to lead you. This past year has almost taken me out - getting older has made things more difficult. So I may not get many cards made or be posting as often - but hopefully 2014 (adds up to 7 - my lucky  number) will be much better!

Go to  http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/ to see all of Mo Manning's wonderful images.

It is  very cold here in this part of WI! Cleaning off the car this morning took a long time to get all the ice off the windows and it was COLD outside! We had 5 1/2 inches of snow yesterday to clean off the car - today not so much but that hoars frost that will NOT scrap off! The high today is to be 16 degrees and tomorrow a high of 7 degrees. I don't even want to think of what the wind chill is! But with lots of severe weather all over - this is not bad as we have sunshine. It is Wisconsin after all. Having lived most of my life in Minnesota and Wisconsin - I should be used to it! Wishing you a happy day today!

A Recipe Book For A Friend

Hello!

I finished the recipe book as a birthday gift for my friend Conni - it is quite large with 26 pages. Conni is a French teacher - first at the local high school and now teaching classes at a university so I chose the Graphic 45 French Country papers and they are beautiful.

It is a cold but sunny day here in this part of WI. We have had warmer weather all weekend so I hope this continues and the snow holds off. A white Christmas would be nice but not too much. :<) Speaking of Christmas, I best get busy at my cards - I am so behind! Wishing you a happy day today!

It's WOYW? Wrdnesday

Hello!

The week is flying by - today is Wednesday already and time for "What's On Your Workdesk?" If you are not familiar with this sharing - go to visit Julia's blog Stamping Ground http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to see what it's all about and leave your link to share a photo of what is happening on YOUR workdesk.

I have been working on the Graphic 45 French Country recipe book for my friend Conni and will be giving it to her today. She was a french teacher at our high school and I hope that she enjoys these beautiful papers. I will share the photos tomorrow. You can see my box book that I posted yesterday -  in my new improvised setup for my photos. I am able to get better photos, but my camera is still giving me trouble. Conni now has a wedding planning business and her husband is the photographer and he has said that they have some extra lights I can use so I hope that helps. My space is so limited I am not sure where I would put them but if there is a way to condense even more I will find it! :<)

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving - I am not sure yet what I am making for out dinner when Jim comes to visit - now that I no longer have a oven - but it will all work out. I get my new stove delivered on Friday and that will be great. I am thankful that I have food and a warm place to live and all the other good things in this time of hardship for so many. For those of you who celebrate - Happy Thanksgiving!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane

My First Book Box with Graphic 45 Oz

Hello!

My first box book - and of course I had to use some of my remaining Graphic 45 Oz papers! I was channel surfing Sunday night and hit on Channel 31 and there was the original Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland - and it was just beginning! My son Jim was visiting and I hurried out to the living room to tell him to hurry in as his favorite movie The Wizard of Oz was on! It was such fun to watch it again - I forget details like the wicked witch attempting to set the scarecrow on fire with a flaming broom. Jim's favorite scene is the wicked witch melting - he loves it. This trivia detail I didn't know - do you know the original color of Dorothy's shoes before the technicolor version of the movie?

Here is my book - what fun this was to make! I first painted it black and then hours of cutting and pasting again - inside and out! All the inside images are fussy cut and layered on the background paper to give it a 3-D look. I am really happy with this first attempt and am now working on a second book with another of the new Graphic 45 papers - Mother Goose!

It is cold here in this part of WI - I guess the snow is not going away this time. Today I got good news and bad news. The good news is that I get a new stove in my apartment. The bad news is that I don't get it until Friday so no oven for the turkey dinner. I guess that isn't as bad as having the stove quit with the turkey in it - it was bad enough that on Sunday the baked potatoes were still almost raw after 1 1/2 hours and I had to put the meatloaf in the microwave to finish cooking it. I took the potatoes to the apartment manager yesterday as 'proof' and today the maintenance man was just here and the oven thermometer stayed at 100. So - a new stove! I have been wanting one for so many years now - it has been repaired 4 times now over the 10 years I have been here. It is one of the original stoves from like 1978! But now I need to rethink what we are having for our Thanksgiving dinner when Jim comes back to visit!

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane
