A Card To Wish You A Merry Christmas!

Hello and Merry Christmas!

I was honored to be a guest designer on the Digital Two For Tuesday blog this month and this is the card I created using one of her wonderful vintage digital images. I fell in love with this scene as soon as I saw it and immediately chose it for my card.

I printed on white CS and colored the image with markers in colors used during that era. To create the vintage look that I wanted to showcase the style of the image, the background was done in 4 shades of chalk – beige/brown/blue with a touch of yellow.

I then cut the image out along the outside of the arch and attached it to a 3-layer card front of yellow/blue/black CS – of which I first outlined the edges of the blue and yellow CS with a black marker to coordinate with the black double line edge of the image arch.

To keep the same vintage look, I created a top border using a paper punch for the 3 different shapes of leaves and then I outlined each individual leaf in black ink and drew free hand the lines on each leaf. I then punched small circles for the berries and also outlined them in black ink. The leaves/berries were added to the top of the card using glue dots to give them dimension.

The inside of the card.

I hope that you all have a great day today! We have had lots of snow all day yesterday here in this part of WI - it is after midnight and it is still coming down - so it is a white Christmas for us! :<)

Happy Holidays!

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS OWLS

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
Twelve Owls Drumming,
Eleven Owls Ringing,
Ten Owls With Stockings,
Nine Owls Singing,
Eight Owls With Glasses,
Seven Owls on Branches,
Six Owls With Mittens,
Five Sparkly Owls,
Four Sleeping Owls,
Three Elf Owls,
Two Angel Owls,
And a Gold Owl in a Pine Tree

Thanks for stopping by today!

Finally, the finale!

I hope that you have enjoyed this journey with me in creating this Christmas poster! After writing the new words for the song so that it could still be sung to the melody, all the little owls have been great fun to create costumes for to go with the words! But this last group of little owls is the image I had in my mind when I first thought of making a poster of the 12 Days of Christmas. This is the only day that I kept the word image from the song. All the little owls in a row - all dressed for a parade - drumming on their drums! It took me two days to make these little guys - a true labor of love! I hope it makes for a grand finale! :<)

Thank you to all who sent in guesses. Sadly, no one guessed what the 12 would be doing, but you gave me so many new ideas that I wish I had done! Well, there is always next year! :<)

Wishing you a most wonderful Christmas Eve to those who celebrate this holiday and a great evening to all!

The Twelve Days Of Christmas Owls Finale Will Be Friday, Christmas Eve . . so . . Make A Guess And WIn A Card

Hello!

Well, it seems I got ahead of myself and today would have posted the 12th Day Of Christmas Owls a day earlier than planned as I wanted the finale to be on Christmas Eve. So it will be tomorrow - Friday - that I will post the last 12 owls in their costumes and I have to say that this group is the image I had in my mind that motivated me to start this entire project. :<)

For all of you loyal and wonderful blogger friends who have followed my blog during this entire project and sent me e-mails and left me such lovely comments, I thought to make it interesting while you wait another day that maybe you might enjoy a little guessing game to win a small blog candy today.

From the photo below, guess WHAT IT IS that this final group of 12 little Christmas owls are doing and win a card from me featuring an owl wearing your choice of costume from this 12 Days Of Christmas Owls project. I think the photo gives you a fair fighting chance - so lets hear your guesses! :<) This will just be for today until 12:00 midnight.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope to hear from you! :<)

You are all so awesome and now that this huge project is almost done and most of the life issues here are in "hold" mode until after the holidays, I intend to spend a LOT of time visiting all of your blogs and leaving some happy comments of my own for you! I am so behind in returning you kindness and so grateful that you have not given up on me!

Wishing you some sunshine today!

I swear, the light in the hallway seems to get dimmer each day - and it is over my apartment door! So much for flourescent lights! Wish I could get better photos of the poster, but I have to take many as it is to get just one good one. Bah humbug! :<)

Hi Valita! The panels on the sides of the poster are the words to the song, posted each day with the new addition of owls. :<)

Thanks for stopping by today!

It's almost here! :<)

I think after the holiday I will post some of the details of the making of these owls - some punches were used but I did free hand draw most of the patterns. The posters I have found are truly a labor of love - and committment! :<)

To Valery Anne - the glasses are not wire - wish I had thought of that - they are made with two circle punches, one punched around/after the smaller one was punched, to make a very tiny rim and then a even more tiny crosspiece was added. Eight pairs of glasses took me awhile! :<) Lots of detail to create these little owls!

Wishing you a happy day today!
