The Princess and The Pea Doll Update

Hello!

Well, I have the Princess doll almost completed. I still have to make her crown and I want to add some flowers to her gown, etc. but it is finished at this point in time. I have asked my brother to build me a wooden bed for the permanent setting so if he can do this for me I will make adjustments at that time - maybe additional mattresses, pads and blankets. Until then - here she is. You can see my 'Santa and The Big Chicken' that hangs on the side of the bookcase - one of EPB's patterns and one of my most favorite dolls that I have made.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! More rain here in this part of WI today. Everything is getting very green but I will be happy to see the sun again! Wishing you a happy day!

Border On and Center Circles Added To Flowers

Hello!

I finally have the narrow inner border and the wide outer border sewed on my wall hanging. I had to make the outer border less wide than in the pattern because of the fabric I had and then I decided to add the blue centers to the flowers to pick up the blue in the borders. I may still add some smaller accents to the center but am not sure yet. I have to ask for help in creating the layering now so that I can start to quilt it. I am happy that I took this class as it has been fun to make this project.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! We have rain and thunderstorms in this part of WI - a dark and dreary day, so working on this colorful project has added some color to my day. Jimbo has been taking a nap - waiting for 'his' chair. :<)

 Wishing you a happy day!

Jimbo Loves His Cave

Hello!

One of Jimbo's first toys and still one of his favorites is his cat cave. He loves to play in it and roll around inside - sometimes he takes toys inside - and it is also a place he likes to sleep. He is bigger now - I will post some photos soon of how he fits now - a little bit more crowded but he loves it just the same.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! We have sunshine today and not too cold in this part of WI - not so my friend Anna in Grand Marias, MN! She wrote yesterday that they had 15 inches of SNOW over Thursday/Friday! It must seem like Spring is never coming up north! Wishing you a good day today!

Busy Work Area

Hello!

My work area has become a colorful and busy place now that I am working on my Princess and the Pea doll. So many fabrics as I make the choices for the mattresses, pads and blankets I am sewing. The colors make it a happy place and it is good to be working again. Hopefully this weekend I can also work on my applique as my friend squared it off for me yesterday so that I can now add the borders. Thank you Krisitie!

She will need a ladder . . . .

Can't go much higher  . . . .

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! It is a sunny day today in this part of WI - forecast is for a nice day in the 60's and then many days with rain and cold temperatures. My friend Anna lives in Grand Marias, MN which is by Duluth and yesterday they had more SNOW - and lots of it - into today! This winter will never end it seems in some places. Wishing you some sunshine where you are!

Hello!

The Princess is dressed - accessories and crown to be added later - and the dust ruffle is on the bed. I have started making the mattresses and pads and she is sitting higher now on 4-5 of them! Photos tomorrow.

In the right hand corner of the photo you can see a beautiful handcrafted pillow and afghan. My aunt Sally crocheted this for me over 25 years ago. I had used it for a doll at that time but kept it when that doll was sold as I could not part with it. My aunt has since passed and when Sally crocheted this beauty her eyesight was failing and this has made this gift even more special. It is perfect for a princess and now will be showcased on this finished creation.

Asleep on my photo background.

Oh Oh ! Busted!

Well, you weren't using it!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! We have rain here in this part of WI - good for making everything green! Our tornado season has begun but I am so happy that winter is over - it seemed like the longest one known to man! Wishing you a good day today!

Princess Has Pantaloons and My First Applique

Hello!

The Princess has her pantaloons - and is sitting by my first applique. I have taken a class and this is the piece we are making - mine will be a wall hanging. I now have to add a thin border, a large border and the edging. It has been fun but with my poor eyesight I need to sew at my workdesk with my OTT lights as the stitches are VERY small! :<) Tomorrow I will share photos of the Princess in her nightgown and sitting on her bed that now has a dust ruffle and two mattresses!

Some photos of Jimbo playing with one of his favorite - and cheap - toys. Empty plastic bags! He is so funny! I have to put them away when he is done so he won't hurt himself as I saw how easily one of the handles could get around his neck as he jumps in and out and under so fast!

Thank you for visiting my  blog today! Wishing YOU a fun day!

Bed For The Princess Doll

Hello!

The Princess ha a bed! My son Jim helped me make it while he was here for Easter weekend. I started with wood but had no small saw that worked. So I used one of the 3-sided display boards that I had here - as I could cut that with a utility knife -  and assembled it using a hot glue gun. I wanted a whimsical look to go with the style of doll so painted it a bright Kelly Green with acrylic paint. The board took the paint really well and only had to use two coats. Now I am working on the dust ruffle and mattresses. The Princess is now dressed also so will share those photos tomorrow.

I had not created for so long that Jimbo was used to my workdesk chair being "HIS" chair from the time he came to live with me. He is very good about sitting in the window or on the cat tree when I am in the chair but he is long suffering and as soon as I leave to do something else (like laundry) he is on the chair. When I return to work again he turns to me and has that look like "What, again?" I wish there was room for two chairs. :<)

Thank you for visiting my blog today! We have beautiful sunshine today in this part of WI - everything is green and Spring flowers are blooming. I can't wait to see the flowering trees! Wishing you a lovely day today!

Princess And The Pea Doll Progress

Hello,

At long last the little Princess doll is on her way to be completed. She is quite different in design than the dolls I have done in the past. A bit stylized whimsy. Jim and I made her bed to fit this style - will share those photos tomorrow. I am now working on her clothes and then will start on all of the mattresses and bedding needed for this princess.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! We had beautiful weather here in this part of WI for Easter weekend - 78 degrees! I had the windows wide open and it was wonderful to feel the warm air! Jimbo was in his glory of course - both window seats were filled most of the day. :<) Isn't he getting big?

Today it is still very warm at 62 degrees this morning - but guess a thunder storm may be in the forecast. Wishing you a happy day!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane
