A Little Doll for a Little Girl

Hello!

I made this little doll for the little girl who is the daughter of  the caregiver couple at the Adult Family Home where my son Jim lives. She is only 9 months old so I wanted to make a simple doll with skinny arms and legs that she could grab onto and carry with her. It was a fun doll to make and I used my favorite fabric of wool felt so it should wear well.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope that yours is a happy one and filled with creative projects! I am working on another doll - a silly one who is a part of a grouping. I have fallen behind on my card and paper making projects - I am psyched to start Halloween and Christmas cards so hope to do so soon. I also forgot to share the polymer clay project I made during my week at Maureen Carlson's in MN - I need to take those photos!

Hi There - It's WOYW? Wednesday Again!

Hello!

I cannot believe it is Wednesday already - it seems I went from Sunday to Wednesday this week! As many of you know, Wednesday is when "What's On Your Workdesk" is in full swing and the day everyone can share whatever it is on your workdesk at the moment. I have been making a few cards with one of Mo Manning's new digital images "Hi There" - I love this wonderful little girl peeking over the chair! I knew when I fist saw the image that I would have to have it for my own!

Go to visit Julia's Stamping Ground blog to meet new friends and find inspiration.and leave a comment for Julia to say hello and see what she is doing! http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

This one is on my apartment door.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! Wishing you a happy one!

Something Sweet on Mo Manning Challenge

Hello!

I almost missed this week's Mo Manning Challenge - hope I am not too late! The theme is "Somethng Sweet" and I made this birthday card for a sweet little girl for her 9th birthday. She is a 'in your face' independent little girl with a sparkle in her eyes - you just have to love her spirit! Her favorite color is blue and I added some bling with Stickles. Her name is Zelda and she is a bit of a tomboy - her birthday cake was a Batman scene - and she loves all of the action heros. I chose this cute little develish girl from Mo's digital images called "Cupcake Thief" as she looks like a little Zelda. Check out all of the great entries and DT inspiration for this week's challenge at http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/.

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! Tomorrow I have a wonderful gift that "Martha' received in the mail to share with you. Wishing you a happy day!

She Is Martha, The Mother of the Bride

The story starts on my August 12 post.

Hello!

Meet Martha, the Mother of the Bride - in all her finished glory. This sweet little doll waited from her beginning on June 24, 2010 until her completion now in August of 2013. It was a long wait but her patience and sweet nature brought her through and she is beautiful. The name she chose fits her perfectly and she is every inch the mother of the bride.

Her finishing touches were her earrings and her hat . . . .

Her purse . . . .

And her shoes (she requested comfort for her corns over style, although I did add a little bling).

I present: MARTHA, THE MOTHER OF THE BRIDE

Martha's wedding ring - which has been on her finger since her own wedding 35 years ago. She can only hope for her daughter that she has also found her true love.

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! Thank you again to all who left such king comments about the little doll. They are the inspiration to create more. Wishing you a happy weekend!

The Saga Continues - The Suit

Hello!

When we left the little doll yesterday, she was a bit sad as the green skirt had not worked out - but hopeful as I had told her that I would sew another from a different fabric. I showed her some beautiful blue fabric that I had in my collection and said that this might be a good choice as it would compliment both the color of her blouse and little doll herself with her lovely reddish brown hair. Her eyes sparkling once again and a smile on her face, she said "Oh! That is beautiful - would you please?"

So I sewed a new skirt in the beautiful blue and it fit perfectly.

"And now for the jacket." I said. "Is there a jacket too?" asked the little doll. "Of course" I said "this outfit is for a very special occasion!" All the while I worked on the jacket, the little doll could hardly contain her excitement and when the jacket was finished she could not wait to try it on!

"It's so beautiful" she said "and the lining is all shiny and soft! Can I try it on now please!"

And she did. I said, "You look wonderful! It fits like it was made for you! Oh, I guess it was!" We both laughed - we were so happy. (Our little doll joke.) :<)

But really, doesn't she look so special! And now for the shoes, the purse, the hat.

Thank you for visiting my blog today - and for all the wonderful and kind comments about the little doll! Tomorrow I have the final and formal photos of her in all of her finery and with her accessories. I will also tell you her name and where it is she is going. Wishing you a happy day today!

WOYW? Wednesday - Trial and Error

Hello!

Today is What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - and for the little doll and me it was trial and error. I had finished her blouse and she was so happy with it! All stitching and a pretty pattern in a beautiful blue.

So it was on to the rest of her outfit - it was to be for a very special occasion so we had to get it just right. I had given the little doll a choice of the fabric and she had chosen this lovely green to match the green leaves in the blouse print. Anxiously she awaited her first fitting - but when she looked in the mirror I could tell she was sad.

"I don't mean to be rude" she said, "but I look a bit fat". It was true. "It just doesn't fit well" I said. "I think it's the fabric. Should we start again with a thinner fabric - and maybe a different  color to match your blouse?"

"Oh, could we?" she asked with eyes shining again and hope in her voice. "Of course." I said.

Go to visit Julia Dunnit's "Stamping Ground" blog to see what is happening this week on WOYW?  There are already 110 bloggers taking part this morning and Julia's workdesk with the most wonderful window view is full of creativity!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Tomorrow the little doll has her outfit for the special occasion and her name. Wishing you a great day!

What's That Noise?

Hello,

Well, after the little doll had her features and hair it was time to give her a 'shape' - and as she was to be a woman of 'mature age' I made these adjustments accordingly. Then it was time for some underwear. When we were finished and she was wearing her new bra and underwear she was very happy. HOW happy I didn't know!

In the middle of the night something woke me. I heard some muffled noises coming from the living room. What in the world could that be! I could see a faint light coming into the hallway, so I got out of bed and peeked around the corner to see where it was coming from. The lights were on over my studio workdesk - and there she was.

I thought to myself, what is she doing? Somehow she had positioned the small mirror that I had left on the table so she could see herself and she was admiring her new shape and/or underwear!

:
She looked so happy and she had waited so long to be a real doll and be able to stand and move her arms - and now she even had a shape! I didn't want to embarrass her, so I quietly went back to bed.

Thank you for coming to visit my blog today! Tomorrow the little doll gets her clothes and her name. Wishing you a great day! It is sunny here in this part of WI - but very chilly this morning! I can sense Fall in the air - too soon, I say - too soon!

Remember The Sad but Patient Little Doll?

Hello!

Remember my poor, sad little doll - who waited so patiently for me to finish her? Well, I am happy to say - and SHE is extremely happy to say - that she is now finished!

Her beginning was here on 6-21-10. I know! 2010!

Then she sat patiently waiting in this condition for a long time. From 6-24-10  . . . . . .

until 3-23 -11 when she had a stuffed body, head and one arm and waited again. I know!

In fact she waited until 5-23-13. Two years and 2 months, I am ashamed to say. All this time she became more sad and impatient. This is when you last saw her in May of this year - she now had a finished body and could stand alone, but she asked me 'Are you never going to finish me? Don't you like me?"

I know! It was time to get my rear in gear. So, first she got her needle sculpting to bring up her features and open her eyes, her makeup and she wanted lovely reddish brown hair styled in a bun. She had waited so long - how could I not grant her every wish. :<) She was so excited!

Isn't she cute! She was so happy! I think she was getting ready to wait again - but I wasn't done yet!

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! Please check back tomorrow for more of the finishing process of the little doll. Wishing you a happy one!

Back Again and It's WOYW Wednesday

Hello!

August is upon us and there has much activity in my studio these past weeks. I have added an area for my sewing machine for my dollmaking and also the pasta machine to use with my polymer clay in addition to the paper. It's getting quite crowded in there! I am very organized but still am amazed at how much I can fit in a small space!

I finished a doll and also took a trip to MN and a workshop where I created a project in the polymer clay. I am looking forward to sharing it all with you and I am happy to be back!

I'm restarting my posts on What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - almost missed it but made it just in time. Check out Julia's blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ for this week's list of all the bloggers taking part and see what is being created around the world!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope to have many fun creations to show you in the next few weeks!
