A Dark WOYW? Wednesday Morning

Hello!

It's another WOYW? Wednesday morning and it is very dark and cloudy here in this part of WI and it is still only 55 degrees! It was so difficult to get any decent photos this morning, as the only ceiling light I have in my living room is at the opposite end of the room from where my workdesk is. In my work area all I have are the two floor Ott Lites, one at each end of my work table and the two table Ott Lites on the workdesk itself. A window is at the left of my work area but as you can see there is not much light coming in this dark and dreary morning!

Today I am working on a card in my favorite 'paper painting' technique - I absolutely love to detail cut paper, it's like cutting paper dolls! I should have the finished card to post tomorrow - still working on the layout and size of the card. This may end up being one of my poster/cards as I do love to create scenes using multiple images.

If you are not familiar with what WOYW? Wednesday is all about - 'What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday' is where we can all share what we are creating on Julia Dunnit's blog 'Stamping Ground' and today is the third anniversary celebration! Join in the fun at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and share not only what's on your workdesk but also you can take part in an ATC share with another blogger!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! Wishing you some sunshine where you are!

Check Your Camera Settings!

Hello!

Yesterday I made another version of Monday's card post for the additional late birthday and after taking  photos of the card I immediately put it under the door of the person so as not to be even later in giving it to her.

Last night when I loaded the photos on my computer I could not believe how dark they were! It was a thunderstorm day but never had any of my photos been this weird looking! Well, to make a long story short, somehow the dial on my camera was turned to Night Portrait! I had quick checked the photos in the camera and they had looked ok - not so! I tweaked the best photo so I was able to show you the card in as close to the true colors as I could and here it is. It still hurts the eyes to look at it! Lesson learned: Do NOT give away card until you view the photos of it on your computer!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! Lots of sunshine here in this part of WI - with lots of humidity! Wishing you a day of cool breezes!

A Birthday Card

Hello!

Happy Monday! I made this birthday card for a friend some time ago but forgot to post the photo. Now I have discovered I missed another birthday and wish I still had this card! So this morning it is another "Sorry I Missed Your Birthday" card I will be making! Dang! This is a Sassy Cheryl digital image called "Birthday Bears" and I added lots of glitter to it as you can see! I used the pastels to match the printed paper and today I think I might use the same image (these three look kind of guilty) only in more vibrant colors. I need to check my paper stash to see what I have!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! I was able to visit quite a few of you this past week - I will try to see more of you this week and leave a comment! I love to see what everyone is creating! Wishing you a happy day to start your week!

Making Flowers

Hello!

Sassy Cheryl has a blog site where she has a "Show Me" post to ask what one is doing this week - this is my photo. I have an ongoing project where I am working on making flowers for a wreath that I saw on Patty's Stamping Spot. On seeing it I immediately fell in love with it and wanted one for my own.

Jim was visiting here last weekend and we punched flowers and circles using all of my scrap papers - he used the various flower and circle paper punches and I used a Big Shot die of multiple flowers. It took hours and I was grateful for his help - but now I have to assemble them! I think I may have enough cutouts for  MANY more wreaths (and cards, other projects, Christmas, etc.) - but I wanted choices, you know?

You can see what other bloggers are doing this week at http://sassycheryls.blogspot.com/ and to see the wreath go to http://www.pattystamps.typepad.com/pattys_stamping_spot/ It is the most gorgeous wreath I have ever seen and I can't wait until mine is finished and on my apartment door!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope your Sunday is a good one! After much rain and storms we have sunshine today here in this part of WI but we are to have a record high of 95 degrees today and more storms tomorrow! Well, I am off to feed my friend's cat Mr. Wrigley!

Late Again!

Hello!

Another late birthday card! This one was for a guy friend and so while I was debating what to make (because guy cards are not easy) I waited too long - and late again! This is getting to be a disturbing pattern in my life! The image is cute, but the colors are guy colors so hope he likes it! :<)

Sassy Cheryl's current challenge theme is "Favorite Color Combo" and as brown and blue are one of my most favorite color combinations, I am entering this in her challenge. You can see all of the great inspiration at http://sassycherylschallenge.blogspot.com/ for future great color ideas!

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! We had thunder, lightning and rain all night long here in the part of WI and it continued into the morning! More storms maybe later this afternoon. We have sunshine now but it is WET outside! I am cat-sitting for a friend and have to go to her house twice a day - was able to drive there after the rain stopped this morning and am watching the weather reports so I can get there before any storms this afternoon! Wishing you a happy Saturday!

Double Peek-A-Boo Card

Hello!

This is the card I struggled with because I did not have the same size circle punch as was used in the video tutorial and I could not get it lined up so that the sliding piece worked properly. Finally I changed the size of  this piece and it all worked just fine! It is called a double peek-a-boo card and you can find the tutorial on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts at http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com/  When the card is opened, two hidden messages are revealed in the circles as the insert slides back. I made it for my friend Verda and she was very impressed - so it was worth it! :<) It's a great technique and I can see many fun things that can be done with the inserts.

(The circles on the left are open - they just look white because of being flat against the white table cover.)

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! We had such strong winds here yesterday in this part of WI! The leaves and branches are covering the lawn this morning! Wishing you a calm and lovely weekend!

WOYW? Wednesday Time

Hello!

I almost forgot today was Wednesday and time for "What's On Your Workdesk?" - the week is flying by again! I love looking at everyone's projects and creations and I wish that I could look at more each week! I try to reply to every visit to my blog and will try to leave more comments on more of those I visit!

This week I have been working on cards - just finished my round anniversary card (yesterday's post) and I was so happy with the results! Today I really struggled with at double peek-a-boo card because I did not have the same circle punch as in the video tutorial and I could not get it lined up for the life of me! I will post the card and a link to the video tomorrow. My workdesk is clean now - only had to make a envelope for a card by cutting down a mailing envelope. So easy to do and you can make any odd shape to fit a card.

To see all of the interesting creations this week go to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and see what that busy lady Julia has been up to and all the rest of the bloggers out there!

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! We had the loveliest weather today in this part of WI - sunshine and a breeze - it was a beautiful day to be outside! Wishing you a good evening!

A Circle Anniversary Card

Hello!

I was so late in making an anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law! I had wanted to make it special and kept delaying it until I found the right image and then I had to find the right papers and then I had to find the special component that would make the card out of the ordinary. The current challenge on Mo Manning's challenge blog was for "A Circle w/Mo Image" and that gave me the shape and I already had an image chosen that was one of hers. I found the papers - even one I liked for the bench - and then I still had to find that special component that was not something I normally used. Going through my treasure drawer I came upon the small paper flowers that I had been saving for over a year to use for a special project. Well, they were perfection to add to this card image!

So Happy Anniversary Dick and Bonnie! I hope that they don't read my blog post today and the card will arrive as a surprise. I will write after they get it in the mail to check this post. I hope that it gets to them without any damage! You can see Mo's current challenge at http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ - the DT has created so many fun cards!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today! Wishing you love and flowers!

A Paper Painted Card Set

Hello!

This is a set of 8 cards using the paper painting technique - which you know is my favorite thing to do when making cards! I love the fussy cutting involved! I have used one of A Day For Daisies digital images called "Grown With Love" and it is perfection to use for this technique. I used two different paper patterns and alternated them on 4 cards each.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! It is a beautiful sunny Monday morning here in this part of WI with a wonderful breeze - a really nice day to start the week! Wishing you a good day today!

Blog Candy at the Land Of Elves Blog!

Hello!

My sweet friend Duendes at The Land Of Elves has a wonderful blog candy challenge to celebrate 2 years as a blogger! If you have visited her blog before you know of the awesome characters she has created who live in her land! If you have not, be sure to visit her today http://terradeduendes.blogspot.com/ to see them and to learn of this great blog candy!

See this cute little elf? The doll is the blog candy! The challenge involves writing a short story featuring one of the elves who live there - and there are many to chose from, one as fun as the other! My favorite is Ferruccio - I have been in love with him since the first time I saw him! I love each new elf that appears in the forest, but my heart has always remained true to the red-headed, freckle-faced charmer! :<) The deadline is June 15th - check it out!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog! We have thunderstorms forecast today for this part of WI - some may be severe - so I am enjoying the sunshine we have this morning, although it is warm at 84 degrees. Wishing you a beautiful Sunday!

Vintage With Polka Dots

Hello!

The current theme of the Day for Daisies challenge is "Go Vintage and Add Polka Dots" and the designer team's inspirations are wonderful! Go to http://adayfordaisies.blogspot.com/search/label/challengeso to see them and their awesome new release!

For my 'paper painting' of the image (on white cardstock) I used two papers I loved because of their vintage feel - and one has polka dots! I then used one of the papers as a background and I cut out a row of the design of the other paper to create the border on the top and bottom. The digital image is called "Small World" and you can find it on the Daisies website at http://adayfordaisies.blogspot.com/

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog and thank you to all of you who have left your very kind comments - I love to receive them as they keep me motivated to create! We have lots of sunshine here in this part of WI - I hope that you have some where you are! Wishing you a great weekend!

Hello!

Time for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and I have finished the project I was working on. I wanted to just use one color on each card with the black and white and I was happy with the final set. Happy Monday!

Hello!

I hope that you had a nice weekend! We have beautiful sunny weather here in this part of WI this early morning and the forecast is for sunny skies most of the week! My card today is just a little 'Happy Monday' to you. I love this digital image of Sassy Cheryl's called "Sally and Her Rag Bunny" and it was a perfect image for more paper painting.

A Stitch In Time

Hello!

It's Friday already - the weeks seem to fly by so fast lately! The current challenge on Sassy Cheryl's challenge blog has a theme of "A Stitch In Time" and this is my entry card. I have used one of Cheryl's digital images "Big Bear Hug" and I wanted it to look like a quilt square with an appliqued image so I just used the stitching around the outside of the blue. I had so many things happen to this card and each time I was able to cover an error another would occur and I would have to be inventive again to cover that one! The end result card is nothing like the one I planned to make! :>)

I love to paper piece and use the term 'fussy cutting' because of the time it takes - but now I have found another term for it as 'paper painting' and that might be my favorite way to describe it!  Check out http://sassycherylschallenge.blogspot.com/  to see Cheryl's challenge blog - you have plenty of time to make your card to enter this fun challenge!

Thank you for stopping by today to visit my blog. We have some sunshine again in this part of WI and the temperature is to reach 72 degrees today. After so many cloudy and rainy days I love it! Wishing you a happy weekend!
