WOYW? This Christmas Eve?

 Hello!

This week's WOYW? Wednesday falls on Christmas Eve! For those of you who aren't familiar with what WOYW? stands for, it is a weekly What's On Your Workdesk? and if you go to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ you can see what it is all about and visit all the different bloggers to see what they are up to. Join in the fun and leave your link so they can visit you! My desk is clean and ready for the new year. :<)

This is my Christmas 2014 poster for my apartment door - made with Mo Manning's new digital images "Fairy Snowman" grouping. A little touch of rainbow colors and a lots of glitter (I added the Stickles to all the stars in the paper as well as the figures) and they are ready to have fun in the snow!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! We have no snow here in this part of WI - unbelievable. So, unless something happens today/tonight - no white Christmas. We are in WISCONSIN people, this weather doesn't make any sense anymore! Wishing you a happy Christmas Eve!

My Favorite Santa Doll

Hello,

Because it is soon to be Christmas, I would like to share again my favorite Santa of all that I made over the years. He is in a private collection but I hear from the owners every year that he is out and on display in their home. Makes me smile that he is loved.

I sculpted him using PaperClay and his clothing is sewn from a heavy, soft fleece and lined in velvet. I also made the small porcelain doll from a kit and created a dress from velvet. Thew toys at the base are from England.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Wishing you a happy one!

Another Christmas Card

Hello!

Another Christmas card. One of Mo Manning's new digital images this holiday season - this one is the "Fairy Snowman" and he is so cute! There are also three (3) sweet fairy digital images playing in the snow that can accompany him, who I am working with on a decoration for my apartment door.

You can find them all at http://www.digitalpenciltoo.blogspot.com/ It's not too late to get these for your own to use on cards all winter.

Thank you for visiting my blog today - and to all who left your lovely comments! It is almost Christmas - still wondering if we will have a white one here in this part of WI. Wishing you a happy day today!

Hugs,

WOYW? Wednesday With A Sassy Cheryl's Snowman

Hello!

I seem to be on a Wednesday schedule - it is time once again for What's On Your Workdesk? Go to Julia Dunnit's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to see what everyone is doing this holiday season. Julia's workdesk is certainly a busy place!

I have been making some Christmas cards and as you can see, my buddy Jimbo always keeps me company as I work. He loves to be where I am and this window is a perfect place that he can not only keep track of me but also what interesting things that may be going on outside!

This image is from Sassy Cheryl's and is called "Love Is Having Open Arms" and is one of her new snowmen images. You can find this happy guy and so many more fun snowmen on Cheryl's site at http://www.sassycherylsstamps.com/

Some sparkle using a bit of Crystal Stickles adds some holiday fun.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! It is colder here in this part of WI and rainy after many days last week of warmer temperatures. I don't know if we will have a white Christmas as most of our snow is gone but maybe. Wishing you a happy day wherever you are!

Hugs,

Time For WOYW Wednesday and Something New!

Hello!

Where did another week go! I am not doing very well as a blogger with only one post a week! Now that it is Wednesday again it is time for What's On Your Workdesk? If you are not familiar with what that is - or even if you are - go to the Stamping Ground blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and see what Julia and many, many other bloggers are creating at their workdesks. Then join in and share your own creations by adding your post link and leaving a comment for Julia!

I have something new added to my studio area - a new drawing board and magnifier/light! I was a portrait artist for many years but had stopped as I other things took priority. I always felt the empty space but eventually gave away my table, my magnifier/light died, my supplies became old, etc. and because I thought this a thing of the past because of my poor eyesight, illness, downsizing, etc.

But this past year the desire to do this again has been strong and when I saw this drawing board in a store this past month when shopping with a friend, it hit me so hard with memories that it brought me to tears. Very unexpected and a surprise to me when trying to explain to my dear friend Anna who was with me at the time. She gifted me with the table and supplies that day as my Christmas present, then she ordered a table cover and I cut it to fit and now the light was just delivered yesterday. The feeling of familiarity and rightness of it all when I sit at my new art table and work now is filled with memories. Anna believes in me and I hope that I can do this again. God Bless you Anna.

My apartment is very small and now with the drawing board there is even less room, so my Christmas decorations are minimal. But one decoration that always goes on display - no matter where I have to sit it - is my little village. Years ago when I had my dolls/teddybears and miniatures shop my brother assembled these for me from individual kits and this is one of my most precious belongings. I love them. This year because I now also have my cat Jimbo I couldn't put them in the window as he has his fleece pads in the living room and the bedroom windows and spends many daytime and even nighttime hours in them. So I was afraid that for the first time I didn't even have room for my village, much less a tree!

Well, I was determined and after looking around me and thinking, thinking, I found a place to set them up. Between my kitchenette and living room there is a window and I moved my phone and boom box and tapes that usually sit in the window to the kitchen side and there I had it! I put a white board up behind it for the photos because other wise you could see the kitchen appliances, etc. behind and it was too confusing and took away from the beauty of the village. I love my village - every year I say a silent thank you Richard, as I do my happy dance while setting it up!

That funny fellow Jimbo is watching me type - he's sitting on the bed. He gets in the strangest positions and I will turn around and see him and ask him what are you doing buggy bear? (I call him buggy bear and/or buddy bear like I used to call my boys when they were young. Don't know why or where it came from but there it is.) He will look at me like he is minding his business and don't I think I should so the same? and I will laugh and take a photo. :<)

Thank you for visiting my blog today! We have warmer weather here in this part of WI for the past few days so it is nice. Of course by warmer I mean a high of 29 so I guess it depends on what winter is like where you live. :<) Wishing you a good Thursday!

WOYW? A !Diorama With Graphic 45 "An Eerie Tale"

Hello!
It's a What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday and I finally have my Halloween/Fall project to share with you - a fairy tale diorama. Go to Julia's blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to see what WOYW? Wednesdays are all about if you are not familiar with it and join in the fun!

It took me forever to finish this project as I kept changing/rejecting parts of it. To make my diorama I first painted the box with black acrylic paint, attached the cover, made a small base so it sat level and used Graphic 45's collection of papers called "An Eerie Tale" to decorate it. Love these papers! I fussy cut and layered to my heart's content - I love both - and finally it was complete.

Can you spot the mean little troll spying on the Prince and Princess?

And of course, all fairy tales have a wicked witch.

So now another finished project in my Halloween collection.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Wishing those who celebrate Thanksgiving a very happy day with lots of good food and relaxation!

Barbara Diane

WHO'S Present Is This?

Hello!

I recently had a birthday and a friend gifted me with a November Beany Baby that she left outside my door with a card to surprise me. It is very cute and I was happy to open the gift and see what it was! I said to Jimbo, "Look what I got - a November Beany Baby!" and I put it on one of his perches for him to see.

Evidently, the English language is cause for some communication misunderstandings when translated in to cat language, because Jimbo directly took MY November Beany Baby into his perch and looked at me like "What, isn't this for me?" and proceeded to 'guard' it for the rest of the day and finally falling asleep in front of it.

I will re-think about sharing my birthday gifts with Jimbo next time!

Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog today! It is snowing here in this part of WI - after days of warmer weather and rain, which took away all of our previous snow on the ground. It is to snow all day into tonight with a travel advisory until midnight so guess we are in for some significant snowfall again. Nothing compared to poor Buffalo - but I will be cleaning off the car and moving it out of the parking lot for the plows in the morning I know!

Wishing you a happy Monday!

Barbara Diane

WOYW Wednesday Time

Hello!

I seem to have lost a couple of weeks again - can't keep up with life lately. It is time for What's On Your Workdesk? and if you are not familiar with this day of sharing, go to the Stamping Ground blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to see what it is all about and join in the fun.

My doll has her face now and the pumpkins are painted and she is patiently waiting for the next lesson, which is the arms and I have the covered wire in place ready to begin. We will also be adding the hair, which will go under the edge of the hat in back.

In the meantime I have been working on a project that I started some weeks ago. The pumpkin did not work out as when I cut into it the insides were a disaster and I had to discard it. The rest of the black painted pieces are part of this project with the exception of the dressmakers model. That is for another project.

You can see Jimbo having a bit of a snooze in the window - he likes to be by me while I work. You would think this position would give him a crick in his neck but he sleeps this way all the time. I will have more photos soon.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Very cold here in this part of WI - but thankfully we were missed by the huge amounts of snow. This coming weekend will tell if we will again be so lucky. Wishing you a happy day today!

Hugs,

WOYW? Wednesday Time!

Hello!

It's Wednesday and time for "What's On Your Workdesk" sharing. The work on my Mo Manning "Prudence" doll is continuing. The doll body and pumpkins were sanded and painted black, the head was sanded and the back of her puritan hat has been added to the head, green paint was added over the black paint on the base and then sandpapered to let the black show through.

Then the shoes were painted. Now I am waiting for the next lesson. This is the first time I have worked with the PaperClay in a long time and I am remembering how fun it is to sculpt with!

So now, go to the "Stamping Ground" blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ to share what's on YOUR workdesk! So much fun to see the different work areas!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I finally joined Facebook in order to take this class and I am enjoying it very much! So many interesting and creative people! Wishing you a happy day today! We have sun today here in the part of WI but it is cold!

Hugs,

Barbara Diane
