WOYW? Wednesday Time!

Hello!

It's Wednesday and time for "What's On Your Workdesk" sharing. The work on my Mo Manning "Prudence" doll is continuing. The doll body and pumpkins were sanded and painted black, the head was sanded and the back of her puritan hat has been added to the head, green paint was added over the black paint on the base and then sandpapered to let the black show through.

Then the shoes were painted. Now I am waiting for the next lesson. This is the first time I have worked with the PaperClay in a long time and I am remembering how fun it is to sculpt with!

Progress on Prudence Doll Continues

Hello!

The progress on the Mo Manning doll continues. I worked on her for quite some time today and the styrofoam body is now covered in the PaperClay, the paper covered wire for the arms is inserted, a hole was made in the top of the body for the head placement and it is sitting on the shelf to dry.

There are 3 pumpkins that sit at the feet of Prudence on the base. I first had to carve the styrofoam balls to make each pumpkin a different shape so they were all not the same round ball.

Then I covered them with the PaperClay, cut the lines in the clay and made stems.

They are all now sitting on the shelf to dry for the next 24 hours. I have to put them up high as Jimbo may decide that they look interesting sitting on my workdesk and would make great play toys. The dwarfs have proven to be good and dependable baby sitters. :<)

Prudence Has Legs and Jimbo Sleeps!

Hello!

Well, my Prudence doll now has legs to stand with, in addition to her head and shoes, and waiting for the next lesson. I hope the photo e-mail arrives soon!

Jimbo sleeping while I work. Yes, he really does sleep this way - silly cat. I love this guy! :<)

WOYW? Witch Hat with Graphic 45 "An Eerie Tale"

Hello!

It is WOYW? Wednesday again! My Witch Hat is completed and sitting with my other Halloween projects from previous years. I used the Graphic 45 "An Eerie Tale" collection of papers and fussy cut and glued layer after layer and then add Stickles for a bit of bling and to add depth. You can click on the photos to see detail. I love these papers and want to make another witch hat but first I am working on a layered scene in a round box turned on its side. Hope to show you photos soon. Also, my Prudence doll is awaiting the next lesson. Will have photo tomorrow.

Mo Manning "Prudence" Doll Project

Hello!

I have not sculpted with clay for a very long time. But when Mo Manning e-mailed me that she was going to be teaching a FREE doll class based on one of her digital images - I was IN. I love Mo's images and to have a chance to make a doll like this was so exciting! The doll is a sweet little girl called "Prudence" - Mo's new image of a young Pilgrim girl.

So far, I have the head and shoes sculpted and sitting on the shelf to dry. We are creating her using an air dry clay. I chose PaperClay as I am familiar with this brand. We used a styrofoam ball covered with clay to sculpt the head. We had a pattern to build the shoes on top of and for placement on the base.

The body base is also styrofoam and I have it cut and waiting to insert the legs/shoes into it and start the next step. You can see the shoe pattern on the base where the doll will stand. I also have painted the base with the first color of acrylic paint.

Beginning to Layer the Witches Hat

Hello!

The base layering of the Witches Hat has begun, using the Graphic 45 "An Eerie Tale" paper collection. I LOVE this collection - it is so much fun to fussy cut! Layering takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. Look for more updates as this project progresses. So many pieces already cut - so many yet to cut! But I love the detail of it all!

WOYW? Wednesday and a Witches Hat with G45 "An Eerie Tale"

Today is What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday again! The week has flown by! I am in the Halloween mode - and the colors of the season are all around me on my workdesk and tables.

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year next to Christmas. Usually I have completed at least one Halloween project by now but this year I have been slow to return to creating. When I saw this paper mache witches hat in Michaels I was finally inspired to start something for Halloween. I also purchased two paper mache pumpkins, but that is for another post.

I started by painting the hat with two coats of black acrylic paint. I had my papers chosen in advance - the wonderful new Graphic 45 collection "An Eerie Tale" - and was inspired to start right away. I love fussy cutting and layering and the Graphic 45 papers are perfection for this. You can see some of my past Halloween projects on my previous post.

I made patterns and started cutting. I use Elmers glue to attach the papers as it holds well and I can spread the glue with my fingers to all of the edges with not much mess. So here I am cutting and gluing and having a good time. Stay tuned for more photos as this project progresses.

We are still having beautiful sunny Fall weather here in this part of WI. It is to be in the high 50's for the next few days. We did have a couple of cold days a week ago and wouldn't you know the heat in my apartment wasn't working, so a very cold night but now fixed - I hope! Wishing you a happy day today!

What's On Your Workdesk? Halloween Project?

Hello!

It is Wednesday again and time for What's On Your Workdesk? If your don't know what this is about, go to The Stamping Ground blog to see what Julie and all of her many blogger friends are creating this week! Join in the fun by leaving your blog link and you will have your own visitors!

I have started working on Halloween projects using paper mache items and Graphic 45's new 'An Eerie Tale' paper collection. I love Halloween and love fussy cutting so this is a perfect match. I hope to have some photos soon of the progress. If you have never tried the Graphic 45 paper collections I recommend that you do - the papers are two sided and have the most wonderful designs on multiple papers in the collection and so worth the price!

Here are some of my previous years Halloween projects. I love Halloween next to Christmas - the images are always so much fun to work with!

After temperatures in the 80's and then a couple of very cold days we again have sunny skies and in the 70's so it is beautiful weather here in this part of WI this week! Wishing you a happy one wherever you are!
