Jim's pot holder wall hanging is now together! I have used all the pot holders that Jim has completed. He wants to keep adding on to it until it is big enough to cover his bed - that's his goal - so we shall see where this project takes us! :<} At this point my fingers are sore right through my finger nails! The loom he was using was made of plastic and the corner broke off, so he could not continue making any this week. I found a metal one on eBay and Dick & Bonnie bought it for me on auction. Jim was very excited to hear about it and tomorrow when he comes to visit I will give it to him. I hope it works for him and I bet he will have many more pot holders for me by the end of the week! :<) Thank you Dick and Bonnie for helping me to get this for him!
This quote says it all for me: "I do not understand how anyone can live without one small place of enchantment to turn to." My small place is my studio area in the corner of my living room. My Whimcees are all the dolls, bears and other creatures that I sew from cloth or sculpt from clay, the cards and papercraft projects that I create. It is with this blog I hope to share my world created in my small space.

Portraits and Potholders
These are copies of some of the portrait work I have done in the past. I found these old photos in one of my photo files today while browsing to find something to post - as I still am not feeling well so have no new dolls to post. These were taken with my first digital camera a long time ago. Lots of memories connected to both the portraits and the time frame.
I am almost finished with sewing together the potholders that my son has made into a wall hanging for him. I hope to finish adding the latest group of them today and will post a photo.

Handmade Pot Holder
I forgot to add that Jim also made me the great pot holder! He has been having great fun with the loom I got him and I am now in the process of sewing all of the ones he has made into a wall hanging - which was his idea. It is quite unique and will be quite the piece of art when hung on the wall! :<}
A Wonderful Easter Gift From Jim
Wanda Sue and Polka Dot Dog enjoying the beautiful rose and the wonderful Easter diarama and card that Jim brought me today when he came to visit. What a colorful and beautiful creation he made for my Easter gift and these two were fascinated by it! After meeting Wanda Sue and seeing photos of the surprise sister, Jim was all smiles! Now he has asked for a brother! :<}

Happy Easter!
This guy was created from wool felt, using the "Pinkie" pattern from 'LaBears by Labbe' in Canada. He has an armature in both his arms and legs so his arms bend and he can stand alone. There are wires inside his long ears and they can be made to bend in any direction. :<} The flowers/leaves are also made of wool felt and they have been wrapped in a lovely lace hand crocheted circle that was made for me by a friend. Happy Easter holiday everyone! :<}

I'm Here!
Hello!
My name is Wanda Sue. I am the surprise doll's new sister! My mom calls me "Sugar" but I can tell that I am not quite what she expected and will take some getting used to. I am not dreamy and shy like my sister - I like to talk alot. And I move around a lot. I need to know why and when and where. Plus, I have red hair and freckles and my mom says that I am quite a surprise myself! :<} Uncle Dick says that my sister doesn't have a name yet, but we are waiting to hear what it is going to be. In the meantime I am making myself at home and as you can see I have a best friend already - Polka Dot Dog - and I have great conversations with Santa. My favorite place so far is on my mom's work table because I can keep track of things there. I have not been to see her computer yet but she says maybe tomorrow we can take some photos in there. In the meantime I still have to meet everyone who lives here and find out their stories.

Here She Is!
The surprise doll for my brother has finally arrived at her new home - so I can now post her photos! Mind you, these are only a few of the photos I took of her before she went off in the mail! :<} I hope that they love her as much as I do. :<} She is so sweet and silly! The pattern is "Soothing Sally" - a wrist rester doll - designed by Barb & Doug Keeling. One of the most fun dolls I have ever made. Mine will be completed soon. But for tonight - here she is!

Still On Her Way To Her New Home
My apology to all those people that I told to check out my blog tonight and those who have said that they have been following the surprise doll saga and were going to check tonight - to see the photos of Dick's doll. She is still on the way to her new home. She wasn't delivered today as expected, so we are still waiting. Hopefully I will receive an e-mail tomorrow that she has appeared in Dick's mail box! :<}

Nice Try!
TWICE today my brother sent an e-mail that he had received his surprise doll and that I could now post the photos of her on my blog. SHAME! She just went out in the mail this afternoon! Nice try, but that's not going to happen until I know she has arrived at his home. She was sent priority mail, so he really should get her tomorrow and then I will post the photos. I had so much fun taking all those photos of her - HINT for Dick: she is great for posing - that I really didn't want to give her away. I had to start making one for myself. I have her head, arms and feet sewn and the body ready to sew tomorrow. Then I only need stuff the body pieces, assemble and give her hair and hopefully by the end of the day I will have my very own sweet and silly doll that I can pose to my heart's content. Nice try Dick, but shame on you! :<}

I Love This Doll
The surprise doll is finished - hair and all. I absolutely love this sweet and silly doll! She is so cute that I just keep taking photos of her (27 so far) because tomorrow I send her off in the mail to my brother. If I hadn't made her for his gift, she would have a home here with me in a New York Minute - and that is very fast! :<} I was tempted. I guess that I now will have to make one for myself. :<} As soon as my brother lets me know that she has arrived I will post photos. He just sent me an e-mail that he got the message in the photo above in a fortune cookie today. :<} I don't know if he will be surprised, but I know she will make him smile. I hope he likes her! :<}

The surprise doll - it's a her - that I am making for my brother to sit on his computer is finished, with the exception of the hair. Dick still has to make a decision as to the hair color he prefers, so I will have to wait until tomorrow to complete it. Then I can package her up and send her to him in the mail. Because she is a surprise I cannot post any photos of her yet, but as soon as Dick receives her and she is on his computer I can show you what she looks like. She is a cutie and it will be interesting to see what he chooses for her name. :<} So I am posting a photo of a dollhouse that I will soon have for sale on eBay. I am currently working on an inventory list and as soon as I have that completed it will be listed as an auction. More photos of the house and the funishings will be posted as I get closer to it being ready to sell.

Third Option Doll Finished
The third doll is completed and of the three that are finished at this point, it is the closest to the body shape that I want for my Shirley Temple doll. The shape of the calf on this leg is what I am trying for, the height is good but I want the body and neck as separate body pieces I think. I want more of a tummy and a wider body than this doll has but I am finally getting closer to the final pattern now. I like different construction areas of each of the three dolls - the fingers of the first doll, the arch in the foot of the second doll and the length and shape of the leg in this doll as well as the height. But I need a break from this project for awhile, so I am starting the surprise doll for my brother to sit by his computer and will not start another option doll until I finish it. :<} The first photo is of the fabric that will be used to make her - him - her - ? If you are reading this Dick, I hope you will like it! :<}
