Blog Candy For A Good Cause

Hello!

Sometimes when checking out fellow blogger sites, I will see something posted that I feel needs to be passed on. I saw this request to share the stories of Ethan and Bella, two very brave little 8-year old children, on my good friend Rhonda's blog http://bluepoohbear753.blogspot.com/ The original post is on Scrap Creations http://scrap-creations1.blogspot.com/ and Kristen is offering this blog candy as a thank you for sharing the stories of these two unbelievably brave children. Please check out Kristen's posting and send some love in cards to two amazing kids, Ethan and Bella.

Ethan Smith

On March 5th, 2005, when Ethan was 3 years old, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 - followed by agressive chemo, surgery, a stem cell transplant and radiation. Two years later, in November 2007, a new diagnosis of osteochondroma and on March 18, 2010 Nathan's parents received the devastating news that the cancer had returned. Despite more chemo and radiation treatments, tests revealed there was massive "widespread" progression throughout Ethan's entire skeletal system. Then even more devastating news - he had a brain tumor, which has more than doubled in size and is now causing focal seizures. Ethan is now receiving radiation treatment for comfort only at this point.

Bella Tucker

Bella was a member of the Phantom Gymnastics team at her grade school when she came down with a near fatal infection on Easter Sunday. After five days in a coma she miraculously survived Streptococcus Pneumonia Sepsis with DIC, but her survival from this infection was not without significant cost. The infection caused extensive tissue damage, and on April 27, 2010, Bella underwent quadruple amputation surgery and is currently facing an extremely long and hard recovery at Children’s Hospital in Boston with extensive rehabilitation to follow, as she learns to live life without her limbs.

Barbara, thanks for sharing the link. I think it's great that we can all share a little bit of ourselves to brighten someone's day.

It's sad that these two beautiful children and their family had to go through.

Prayers and cards on the way. Thanks for posting this so we can send good thoughts. I live in fear everyday that my son's cancer will return. It will be 5 years in Aug. that he is off treatment. 5 years is huge I am told.
